Things to Do in Northern Michigan
Manton is surrounded by both the Pere Marquette State Forest and the Huron-Manistee National Forest. It is a quiet and scenic part of Northern Michigan that keeps visitors coming back year after year. The relatively rural area supports a charming downtown with boutique shopping and a large outdoor pavilion music stage with a surrounding park. Morel mushroom hunters flock in the springtime, while the fall season provides beautiful views. In the winter, abundant snowfall allows for quality snowmobiling and cross-country skiing opportunities; neighboring downhill ski resorts are only a short drive away! Snowmobile trails crisscross throughout the City of Manton with designated routes and the snowmobile trail just north of Manton leads all the way to the Mackinac Bridge!
Lake Billings sits within the city limits and provides fishing, swimming beaches, boating, and canoeing every summer. The Manton Pathway & Garden provides a 1.5-mile nature walk that is great for bird watching and seeing other small animals. There are bridges to cross and benches staggered to stop along the way.
